james franklin davisFormer Rochester resident, James Franklin Davis, 87, of San Antonio, Texas passed away at 2 a.m. Nov. 6, 2014 at Missions Trail Baptist Hospital in San Antonio.

On April 24, 1927, Jim was born in Windfall, Ind., to Thomas C. and Winnie Andrews Davis. Growing up he shared his childhood with two sisters and two brothers.

Jim and Ruth Ann Dillon were married in Sept. 24, 1950, in LaFountaine. They shared 53 years of life’s adventures before Ruth passed away on May 4, 2003. Their union produced a beautiful family: three daughters and a son, and later two more branches were added to the family tree. In October 2005, Jim and Edna Caler were married in Texas.

Jim is lovingly remembered by his wife: Edna Davis; a son: Marvin (Kay) Davis, Rochester; three daughters: Pamela (David) Pittenger, Round Rock, Texas, Julie (Tom) Williams, Geronimo, Texas, and Melanie Berry and companion Doug Hoover, Kewanna; 9 grandchildren: Justin (Sarah) Pittenger, Marc Pittenger, Jamie (James) Marino, Jenifer (Patrick) Jackson, Adam (Ashly) Berry, Hali Berry, Lesley (Phil) Bowers, Becky (Rocky) Contri, Scott (Stephanie) Davis; 16 great grandchildren; two sisters: Kathleen Bogue, San Antonio, Texas, and NedaLyn (Neal) Shockney, Windfall; two brothers: Richard Davis, Windfall, and John (Linda) Davis, Windfall; and two step children.

Preceding Jim in death are his parents, first wife: Ruth Ann Davis and son-in-law: David Berry.

Visitation is scheduled from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday Nov. 12, at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W 18th Street Rochester. A celebration of life is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Military rites will be conducted by the Fulton County Honor Guard and the US Army Honor Guard. Interment will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.
