Robert L. “Bob” Owen, 75, of Elkhart, Ind., and formerly of Syracuse, Ind., passed away at 3:50 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at Kindred Nursing & Rehab – Valley View in Elkhart.

He was born May 23, 1938, in Detroit, Mich., to Lawrence and Elsie Faye (Chiddester) Owen. He grew up in Millersburg, Ind., and graduated from Millersburg High School. He lived most of his life in the Syracuse area before moving to Elkhart and retired after many years as a banker in Syracuse, Ligonier, Goshen, Shipshewana and Topeka areas.

He was a member of the St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in Syracuse and enjoyed the Boat In worship service on Lake Wawasee.

He is survived by a daughter: Renita de la Garza, Muncie, Ind.; a son: Ryan (Vicki) Owen, Syracuse; a grandson: Graham (Justine) de la Garza; and a sister: Carol Wallace, Syracuse.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

No public visitation or services are planned. Memorial bequest may be given to Harbor Light Hospice, 1608 E. Day Rd, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
