Severe Thunderstorm Warning In Effect

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Kosciusko County until 1:15 a.m. The storm was tracking from a path southwest of Bourbon at 35 mph and is bringing 60 mph winds and quarter-sized hail.

Locations in the path of the storm include Etna Green, Hoffman Lake, Atwood, Hastings, Clunette, Monoquet and Leesburg. Residents in those areas should move to interior rooms on the lowest floor of a building.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect for 24 Indiana counties until 5 a.m.

Counties in the watch area are Adams, Allen, Blackford, Cass, DeKalb, Elkhart, Fulton, Grant, Huntington, Jay, Kosciusko, LaPorte, LaGrange, Marshall, Miami, Noble, Pulaski, St. Joseph, Starke, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, White and Whitley.

NWS meteorologists say thunderstorms are expected into the overnight hours with the threat of the most severe weather possible along and northwest of a line from Knox to Goshen to Coldwater, Mich. Damaging winds, heavy rainfall and large hail are all possible.
