Katie Hoffert

Katie Caroline Hoffert, 19, Pierceton, died at 7:37 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at the home of her aunt, following a long struggle with cystic fibrosis.

She was born on May 22, 1995, at Minot Air Force Base in Minot, N.D., to Peter Michael Hoffert and Wonnie Lynn Shafer.

She moved to Kosciusko County in March 2011 from Bismarck, N.D., and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Warsaw.

Survivors include her mother, Wonnie L. Shafer, Pierceton; her father, Peter Michael (Tammy) Hoffert, Minot, N.D.; one sister, Chelsi (Paul) Stewart, Shelbyville; one brother,  Michael Joseph Hoffert, Minot, N.D.; grandfather, Ben (Karla) Shafer, Mancelona, Mich.; aunt, Stefanie Shafer, Warsaw; uncle, Greg Shafer, Warsaw; and three cousins.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Linda Shafer; paternal grandparents, Pete and Caroline Hoffert; aunt Bonnie Misener; and cousin.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. officiated by Bishop Jeff Walters.

Memorial donations may be directed to the funeral home to go towards funeral expenses.
