Richard AllenRichard A. Allen, 84, passed away at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014, in his residence.

He was born March 16, 1930, in Leesburg, to Herman and Helen (Yeager) Allen. He married Juanita B. Miller on June 12, 1949. He grew up in Detroit, Mich., until 1946 when his family moved to Leesburg. He was a graduate of Leesburg High School.

He worked at Dalton Corporation as a pre-production engineer for 34 years. He was active as a troop leader with the Oswego Boy Scouts for many years and was awarded the Silver Beaver Distinguished Service to Youth award from Anthony Wayne Area Council of Boy Scouts of America. He was also a member of the Leesburg Lions Club and a member of Leesburg United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife: Juanita Allen, Leesburg; a son: Steven Allen, Noblesville; a daughter: Beth (Todd) Hofmann, Leesburg; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a brother: Robert Allen, Leesburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son: Max Allen.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at the funeral home with Pastor Robert Seewald officiating. Interment will be in Oswego Cemetery, Oswego.
