Raymond ‘Ray’ B. Prince, 69, of Leesburg, passed away at 10:59 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014.
He was born on Aug. 5, 1945, in Chicago, Ill., to Raymond and Christine (Beezhold) Prince.
He grew up in Chicago, graduated from high school in 1963 and was a United States Army veteran. He formerly lived in Dyer and South Chicago Heights, Ill., before moving to the Leesburg/North Webster area 20 plus years ago.
He retired from the Wawasee Community School Corporation where he was the custodian at North Webster Elementary for many years. He was currently employed for the North Webster Community Center for the past several years. He was formerly employed at Ace Pest Control in North Webster for several years and Jay’s Potato Chips in Chicago.
He attended the Vineyard Community Church in Syracuse and was a member of American Legion Post 253 in North Webster.
He is survived by: two sons, Charles “Chuck” (Janae) Prince of Merrillville, and Christopher (Alexandra) Prince of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and one brother, David Prince of Chicago Heights.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at Owen Family Funeral Home, SR 13 and CR 500N, North Webster. Memorial services will follow at 3 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor David Winters of the church officiating.
Military rites will be performed at the end of the service by American Legion Post 253 in North Webster.
Memorial bequest may be given to The Vineyard Community Church, 10121 N. SR 13, Syracuse, IN 46567. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
