1446311_profile_picJames Louis Meyers, 77, of New Paris, passed away peacefully in his sleep at 4:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 27. 2014, at his residence after a long battle of strokes and dementia.

He was born on Sept. 1, 1937, to Austin and Evelyn (Adams) Meyers in Jackson, Ohio. He was a longtime area resident of Nappanee and the New Paris area since 1975. He served his country in the Navy from 1955-1957 during the end of the Korean War, as a seaman on the USS Coral Sea flight ship.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years; children: Teresa Bausch, Cross Plains, Wiscon.; Rachael (Lou) Harris of Edwardsburg, Mich.; James (Annette) Meyers, Fort Wayne; grandchildren: Trista, Aaron and Jarret Bausch; Tyler Sterling, Alyssa Whitmyer and Brandon Hixson; and a great-granddaughter: Kyra Lee; a sister: Betty; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Marvin, John, Merrill, Robert and Tommy Meyers; two nephews; and a niece.

At his request, he will be cremated and inurnment will follow at a later date in Oakhill, Ohio. The family wishes for friends to stop by and visit at the family home Tuesday, Oct. 28, and Wednesday, Oct. 29, in remembrance of James. They also wish to send a thank you to the workers at The Center of Hospice Care in Elkhart and to Dr. Alfred Schlorke and staff from the Anglemeyer Clinic.
