HUNTINGTON – The bats got going for the Warsaw baseball team Thursday.
Unfortunately for the Tigers, they still wound up on the wrong side of the scoreboard.
Host Huntington North outscored Warsaw 15-9 in a non-conference contest.
Warsaw, which had managed a total of just five hits and five runs in their last two games, lost its fifth straight game.
The game was tied 4-4 before the Vikings scored five times in the fourth. The Tigers answered with four runs in the fifth before Huntington plated six more runs in the home half of the fifth.
Caleb Heckaman led the offense for the Tigers with three hits, including a double. He also drove in a pair of runs for Warsaw.
Ethyn Bradley had three RBI for coach Mike Hepler’s team, which dropped a 4-3 final at Wawasee Wednesday night. Justin Oberlin, Caleb Moneyheffer, James Brandes and Peter Shepherd each had two hits.
The two teams combined for 29 hits in the contest.
Walker Spahr drove in six runs to lead Huntington North. Kory Goodrich had a home run for the winners.
James Brandes took the pitching loss for Warsaw, which drops to 8-9 on the season.
Warsaw, which is 5-3 in conference play, hosts league foe Goshen Friday at 5 p.m.
Huntington edged the Tigers 4-3 in eight innings in the junior varsity game.
Marcello Rodriguez, Isaac Lenon and Luke Baker each had two hits for Warsaw. Lenon took the pitching loss.
The JV Tigers, now 8-8, host Goshen Friday at 5 p.m.
