Rex Leroy Tinkey, 84, of Leesburg, Ind., passed away at 9:50 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Peabody Retirement Community of North Manchester, Ind.
Rex was born on March 18, 1930, in Warsaw, Ind., to Forest S. Tinkey and Mildred Irene (Polk) Tinkey. On Dec. 11, 1948, in Pierceton, Ind., he was married to Jacqueline Rose (Stroupe) Tinkey, who survives in Leesburg, Ind.
He was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, Ind., where he was a 1948 graduate of Pierceton High School. He then joined the U.S. Marines in 1948 and served for a number of years until his honorable discharge. He retired in 1992 as a sales engineer at Whitley Products in Pierceton. Rex was a 50-year-member of the Pierceton Masonic Lodge #377, member of the North Webster American Legion Post 253, and he loved to play bridge and golf.
He is survived by his two sons: Rick Tinkey, Warsaw; Thad Tinkey, Englewood, Fla; one granddaughter: Kayla (Teric) McCool, Milford, Ind.; and two grandsons: Dan and Phil Tinkey, both of Syracuse, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
No visitation or services are planned, a private graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw, Indiana. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
