Concord Tops Tigers

images-7WARSAW – The Warsaw softball team could not overcome the cold or Concord either one Friday night.

The host Tigers dropped an 11-5 final to the Minutemen in Northern Lakes Conference action.

Warsaw took a 1-0 lead with a tally in the third inning. Concord took control by scoring five runs in the fourth, including a three-run double off the bat of McKenzie Loge with two outs.

The Minutemen scored five runs in the top of the seventh to make it 11-1.

The highlight of the night for the Tigers came in their final at bat. Senior Kaleigh Speicher blasted a grand slam homer in the bottom of the seventh for the 11-5 final.

Loge went 3-4 with two doubles and six RBI for Concord, now 9-6.

Lauren Shaffner had a double for Warsaw. Speicher took the pitching loss for the Tigers, who committed six errors.

Warsaw has lost five in a row, including three straight this week in NLC play.

The Tigers, who are now 3-9 overall and 3-3 in the NLC, play at Elkhart Central Saturday.
