Betty I. Sparks, 88, of Etna Green, passed away at 8:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, in Mason Health Care Center, Warsaw.
Sparks was born Sept. 10, 1926 to Isaac and Madeline (Barth) Long at Huffman Lake, Kosciusko County. She has been a lifelong resident.
She married Loyal Sparks on April 17, 1943. He died March 27, 2005.
She was a member of the Etna Green Church of Christ and was involved in the life of her church. She helped arrange dinners for funeral and other functions. She was a member of the Anchor Sunday School Class, Dorcas Missionary Society, a charter member of the ONO Club since 1949 and the local euchre card club in Etna Green. Sparks was a volunteer at Kosciusko Community Hospital since 1976..
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law; Sharon and Dick Hollar of Etna Green, Susan and Larry Gochenour of Etna Green and her son and daughter-in-law, Rex and Karen Sparks of Murphreesboro, Tenn; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and brother Bill Long, Huffman Lake, Warsaw.
Proceeding in death was her brother, Ernest Long.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, at the Etna Green Church of Chris,t 206 W. Broadway St., Etna Green.
A celebration of Betty’s life will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, in the church with Pastor Jordan Ickes officiating. Burial will follow in Etna Green Cemetery, Etna Green.
