James ‘Deacon’ Millard Bryan, 69, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 7:34 p.m., Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, at Millers Merry Manor of Warsaw.

He was born on Dec. 24, 1944, in Warsaw, to Mott O. and Mildred ‘Millie’ E. (Johnson) Bryan. On June 18, 1983, in Warsaw, to Connie Guthrie.

He was an assistant pressman for R. R. Donnelly of Warsaw, and was raised on a poultry farm just north of Mentone, Ind. He graduated from Mentone High School in 1964. He also attended Manchester College after high school and later in life. He was past president of the Eagles Aerie of Warsaw and he was a member of the Moose Lodge of Warsaw and the Warsaw Gun Club. He enjoyed baseball, NASCAR especially Mark Martin, gardening, his cats and reading Louis L’Amore novels.

He is survived by his wife; daughter: Jamie (Dave) Pena, Ligonier, Ind.; son: Scott (Stacey) Bryan, Goshen, Ind.; sisters: Jennie L. (John) Harrold, Muncie, Ind.;
Sherry (Steve) Murray, Carmel, Ind.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister: Mary Ellen Wilson.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at King Memorial Funeral Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at the funeral home. Reverend Amber Karkosky-Litten will officiate.
