March For Babies Is Sunday
On Sunday, May 4, at Winona Lake Park, over 200 community members from Kosciusko and Whitley counties will join together in support of all babies by participating in the March of Dimes March for Babies event.
Registration for the walk starts at 2 p.m. with the walk beginning at 3 p.m. “Helping babies be born healthy is vital to the hope and future of our community,” said Chris Cage, 2014 March for Babies Committee Member. “One day, all babies will be born healthy, but we’re going to have to walk to get there.”
The most urgent infant health problem in the U.S. today is premature birth. It affects more than half a million babies each year, with the number growing every day. Babies born too soon are more likely to die or have disabilities. The March of Dimes is committed to reducing this toll by funding research to find answers to premature birth and providing comfort and information to those families who are affected. All funds raised supports babies born right here in your community and promotes the health of all babies through education and research.
The event will be fun for all ages. All are welcome to come out and support this great cause.
March for Babies consists of a 5K walk with refreshments and live entertainment. “In addition to fun activities, the walk is an opportunity to teach children the value of volunteering — how their gifts of time, energy and money, no matter the size, can have a big impact when they’re part of supporting a worthy cause,” said Cage. To join in, visit marchforbabies.org, or call toll-free 800-921-9255 to sign up as an individual or team.
