Shawnee LaKay Elder, 32, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 8:02 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.

On Feb. 24, 1982, she was born in Warsaw to Richard and Glenda (Elder) Mattern.

Shawnee was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County. She was a homemaker and a stay at home mom, who loved spending time with her children, nephews, nieces and friends. She loved taking care of people, especially her family and was a very giving person. She also enjoyed watching her grandpa play shuffleboard. She loved driving around and lived life to the fullest. She was a member of the American Legion Post #258 Ladies Auxiliary, Pierceton.

Shawnee was survived by her son: Richard Michael Honeycutt, Warsaw; her daughter: Dezarae LaKay Elder, Warsaw; her parents; her sister: Jackie Renee (Seth) Callaway, North Manchester, Ind.; her brother: Dustin Wayne (Martha) Baldridge, Warsaw; her maternal grandmother: Sandra Kay Elder, Warsaw; paternal grandparents: Jim and Nancy Rogers, Oklahoma City, Okla.; seven aunts and uncles; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather: Glen Elder; and grandparents: A.J. and Eva Marie Baldridge.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at the funeral chapel.
