TVHS Journalism Students Win BSU Awards

Tippecanoe Valley High School Student Publications went to Ball State University on Friday, April 25, for the 59th Annual High School Journalism Day. They won seven awards total. Student Publications is a combined class of yearbook members and newspaper members.

This was the first year the Runic Review student newspaper, re-established in 2012, competed.

The 2013 Saga yearbook won excellent for the yearbook overall, an honorable mention for traditional yearbook design, and 2013 Valley graduate, Bethany Fincher, won a superior for the personality feature writing.

The student newspaper, the Runic Review, won honorable mention for the website overall. Senior Alyssa VanMeter won honorable mention in multimedia storytelling for her multimedia slideshow on senior Devin Childers heading to state, senior Liz Shepherd won excellent in column writing for her column “Flappy Bird: Addiction or Relaxation,” and senior Cora Warstler and freshman Josey Forney won excellent for their photo story on the Special Forces cheer squad.

“I felt excited and proud of myself. I did my best and got awarded for it,” Forney said.
