Ethel Marie Wood, 99, formerly of Nappanee, Ind., passed away at 9:32 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014, at The Laurels of DeKalb in Butler, Ind.

She was born Feb. 6, 1915 in Kosciusko County, Ind., to Clayton and Cora (Stackhouse) Harlan. She was a graduate of Etna Green High School. She married Wayne Wood on Feb. 6, 1938. He preceded her in death on June 14, 1992.

Mrs. Wood lived her lifetime in this area until moving to Auburn, Ind., 4 years ago. She was a graduate of Etna Green High School. Ethel was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Tabor Church of God.

She is survived by her daughter: Jeanette (Michael) Sommers, Auburn; son: Allan (Christine) Wood, Darien, Ill.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother: Lloyd (Jean) Harlan, Grabill; and a sister-in-law: Ann Harlan, Cincinnati.

She was preceded in death by sisters: Lois Rockhill and Berneice Harlan; and a brother: Warren Harlan.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Mt. Tabor Church of God. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at the church with Reverend Jeremy Grueser officiating. Burial will be in Stony Point Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Bear Lake Camp in Albion, Ind.
