WARSAW – A big rally earned the Warsaw baseball team a split in a non-conference doubleheader versus Kokomo Saturday.
The host Tigers edged the Wildkats 8-7 in the opener before Kokomo took game two by an 8-3 final at WCHS.
Warsaw trailed 6-1 in the first game before rallying for the win.
Sterling Hay led the offense for the Tigers with two hits in the victory.
Ethyn Bradley and Brandon Shipp each drove in a pair of runs for Warsaw.
Jonathan Murphy earned the pitching win to improve his mark to 2-0.
Kokomo outhit the Tigers 13-5 in the second game. Warsaw scored all three of its runs in the first inning before being shut down the rest of the way.
Caleb Heckaman led the Tigers with two hits. Caleb Moneyheffer took the pitching loss.
Warsaw, 6-3 on the season, hosts conference foe NorthWood Monday at 5 p.m.
The Warsaw junior varsity team lost a pair to Fort Wayne Carroll Saturday. The Chargers won the twibill by finals of 7-5 and 12-2 over the hosts.
Blake Foreman had two doubles in game one. Marcelo Rodriguez took the pitching loss.
Brady Yates smacked two doubles in the 12-2 loss for the Tigers. Kenton Cornell was the losing pitcher.
The Warsaw JV, now 4-4, hosts NorthWood Monday at 5 p.m.
