Warsaw Baseball Stays Unbeaten In NLC

images-7PLYMOUTH – The Warsaw baseball team wrapped up an impressive week of conference play Friday.

The Tigers used a strong pitching performance from Kevin Hawley to defeat host Plymouth 5-1 in Northern Lakes Conference action.

Hawley went the distance on the hill as Warsaw finished the week a perfect 3-0 in league games. Hawley allowed 11 hits, but just one run while striking out two and walking none to run his season mark to 3-0.

Warsaw, which beat Wawasee and Goshen earlier this week in NLC play, scored two runs in the first inning to take control early. The Tigers added a pair of runs in the fourth frame and one more in the seventh inning.

Dean Katris led the offense with two hits for Warsaw, which improves to 5-2 overall and 3-0 in the NLC.

Brandon Shipp had a double for the Tigers.

Warsaw will host Kokomo Saturday for a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m.

Plymouth topped the Tigers 14-4 in junior varsity action Friday.

Blake Foreman led the JV Tigers with two hits. Henry Howard took the pitching loss for Warsaw, now 4-2 overall and 2-1 in the NLC.

The Warsaw JV hosts Fort Wayne Carroll Saturday for a twin bill starting at 10 a.m.

The Warsaw C team defeated Triton 11-0 Thursday night. Foreman notched the pitching win. Alex Miller, Justin Kerchner and Collin Marshall each had two hits for the Tigers.

Warsaw hosts Wawasee Tuesday at 5 p.m.
