Sharon M. Schroeder, Kendallville, Ind., 68, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, at Lutheran life Villages after a 3-year battle with cancer.

Sharon was born Oct. 14, 1945, to William and Doris Hrapcak. On Dec. 1, 1963, she married the love of her life, Theodore D. Schroeder. Together they raised four children.

Sharon worked as a nurse’s aide and medication aide for many years before going back to college. At the age of 56, Sharon graduated from Ivy Tech State College with a degree in nursing. She was the ultimate caregiver. Besides working in the area of geriatrics for over 30 years, she also took care of her family. Her parents, children and grandchildren were the center of her universe. She was always so proud of their accomplishments. Sharon enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting, and reading. She also loved the Lord and was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Wolcottville, Ind.

Sharon is survived by her children: Kathleen (Norman) Lovely, Dexter, Mich.; Suzanne (Kenneth) Malone, Sturgis; Theodore (Tara Monroe) Schroeder, Waterloo, Ind.; Timothy (Konnie) Schroeder, Wolcottville, Ind.; 12 grandchildren: Zachary Lovely, Sarah (David) Perkins, Andrew Lovely, Megan (John) Axel, Tiffany Malone, Joseph Cunningham, Angela Malone, Breely (Todd) Taylor, TJ Schroeder, Will Schroeder, Kayla Schroeder and Kelli Jo Schroeder; seven great-grandchildren; and her sister: Linda Corman, LaGrange, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

As she wished, cremation has taken place and burial will take place at a later date. Legacy Cremation and Remembrance Center is assisting the family with arrangements.
