NIC Moves To Add Four Schools
The Northern Indiana Conference is going to grow.
The league’s board voted on Wednesday to add four schools from the Northern State Conference to its mix starting in 2015-16.
The addition of Jimtown, John Glenn, Bremen and New Prairie were approved to join the NIC.
It was announced last year that current NSC schools Triton, Knox, Culver and LaVille would be leaving the league to join a newly-formed Midwest Conference.
The NIC will include 13 schools when the addition is complete. The current NIC list includes Penn, Mishawaka, Mishawaka Marian, South Bend St. Joseph, South Bend Adams, South Bend Washington, South Bend Clay, South Bend Riley and Elkhart Central.
The NIC last made a change in 2003 when both Marian and St. Joseph joined the conference.
Elkhart Memorial left the NIC following the 1999-2000 school year to join the Northern Lakes Conference.
