FORT WAYNE – Wawasee opened its 2014 boys golf season in grand style, winning the Fort Wayne Northrop Invite at Colonial Oaks. The Warriors posted a 328 team score, four strokes better than runner-up Fort Wayne Canterbury.

Cal Heinisch posted the third-best score of the day to lead the Warriors at 79 with teammate Jeffrey Moore one back at 80. Rounding out the scores for Wawasee was an 82 by Tristen Atwood and 87 from Rasmus Rich. Mason Germonprez had the fifth score at 94.

Rounding out the team scores were Triton in third at 336, Huntington North at 343, Fort Wayne Northrop at 344 and Whitko at 384.

In the JV Invite, Fort Wayne Canterbury took honors with a 392 team score, three better than Triton’s 395. Wawasee finished with a 423, East Noble at 440 and Fort Wayne Concordia at 455. Cameron Adams of Wawasee was second overall with a 94.

Individual scores for Triton and Whitko were not reported.
