images copyThe Triton girls tennis team opened conference play Thursday with a 4-1 win over John Glenn.

The Trojans got wins from its top two singles players in winning the Northern State Conference opener.

Kaelyn Mason posted a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles for Triton. Shayla May notched a 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles for the winners.

The Trojans took both doubles matches with dominating wins in straight sets. The No. 1 duo of Holly Stogsdill and Carrie Slabaugh won 6-1, 6-0. The No. 2 team of Cassie Irons and Michal Scherer-Berry prevailed 6-0, 6-1.

Glenn won the junior varsity match by a 2-1 count.

Triton improves to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the NSC.

Baseball Team Edged By Pilgrims

The Triton baseball team dropped a 7-6 final at Plymouth Thursday.

Gabe McPherson led the way for the Trojans with two hits and four RBI. Landon Kaufman had two hits and Cole Creighbaum a double for Triton.

Winning pitcher Braydon Davidson had two hits and two RBI for the Pilgrims. Cody Gamble had two hits, while Martin Dyrcz had two RBI and Justin Drudge a triple for the winners.
