“I’m real proud of our kids tonight,” said Whitko coach Erik Hisner.  “They gave a great effort and showed outstanding competitiveness against the No. 2 ranked team in the state.”
“This was a very good high school baseball game, especially this early in the season.  We didn’t lose this game, Norwell won it.  Give them a lot of credit.  Norwell got the key hits when they needed them.”
“Even though we lost, our kids showed some fight.  They could’ve packed it in when Norwell jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after the first inning, especially on the road, but they didn’t.  The kids showed some grit.  And I like that.”
Avery Robbins had a hit, an RBI and a run scored to lead Whitko. Tanner Gaff, Zach Snep and Ethan Nicodemus each had a hit.
A trio of Norwell pitchers combined to toss a four-hitter with 10 strikeouts. James Spera had two doubles and Logan Dettmer two RBI for Norwell, now 4-0.
