Rebecca Whitaker, 83, of North Manchester, Ind., died at 1:10 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, in her residence.

She was born Oct. 25, 1930, in Prestonsburg, Ky. to Andrew & Sally (Allen) Baldridge.

On June 25, 1957, she married Eugene Howard, who preceded her in death on June 25, 1995. She then married Rev. Robie Whitaker on Oct. 23, 1999.

Rebecca retired from United Technologies, North Manchester in 1992 and was a dairy farmer’s wife. She was a member of Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God in Silver Lake, Ind. and was very active in her church and with her family. She loved to cook, bake cakes and visit people who were sick. She was a generous, giving and loving person.

She is survived by her husband: Rev. Robie Whitaker, North Manchester; four sons: Monroe (Sharon) Howard, North Port, Fla.; Marvin (Terry) Howard, Loveland, Col.; Donnie (Tammy) Howard, Columbia City, Ind., and Kenny Howard, Claypool, Ind.; one daughter: Jeanette K. (Charles) Allen, North Manchester; one step son: Ronnie (Randi) Whitaker, St. Louis, Minn.; one step daughter: Bonnie (Rev. Larry) Caudill, Hazard, Ky.; one brother: Arthur Baldridge, Pierceton, Ind.; one sister: Dorothy (Carl) Slone, Warsaw, Ind.; 12 grandchildren, three step grandchildren, several great grandchildren and five step great grandchildren.

One daughter: Kathy Howard; one grandchild; three brothers and two sisters are deceased.

Family and friends may call Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014 from 2-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God, SR 15 South, Silver Lake, and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.

Services will be Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God, SR 15 South, Silver Lake. Pastor Frank Whitaker will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
