John Blackport, 77, of Syracuse passed away on Sept. 13, 2014 at Parkview Regional Hospital in Fort Wayne.

He was born on Aug 5, 1937 in Goshen, Ind. to Jacob and Cleo (Moist) Blackport. On March 9, 1957 he married Dorothy Mast who preceded him in 1999. On June 8, 2000, he married Doris England who preceded him in 2010.

He lived in the Syracuse area since 1953 coming from Goshen. He retired as a lab technician for Syracuse Rubber after 41 years. He was a member of the Richville United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his two daughters: Becky (Ken) Schmitt of Goshen and Marsha (Gary) Weaver of North Webster;  a stepdaughter: Deborah (Harvey) Miller of Syracuse;  two stepsons: Dennis Ringler of Syracuse and Douglas (Cheryl) Ringler of Syracuse; four grandchildren, 13 stepgrandchildren, six greatgrandchildren, 16 step greatgrandchildren, a step greatgreatgrandchild; a sister: Marlene Andrews of Syracuse.

He was preceded by one son.

Visitation will be Monday, Sept. 15, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Eastlund Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 am Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014, at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at the Elkhart Prairie Cemetery in Goshen.
