Robert E. Maloney, 74, of Kimmell, passed away on Sept. 12, 2014 at home.

He was born on Aug. 1, 1940 in Noble County, IN to Oda and Minnie (Kalb) Maloney.  He married Betty J. McInturf on March 7, 1964.

Bob returned to the Noble County area after living in Fort Wayne for 10 years.
He retired from GE after 30 years of service, where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He honorably served his country in the United States Army.  Mr. Maloney was a member of the American Legion Post 253 in North Webster, Ind., and a lifetime member of the VFW in Churubusco. He was a 32nd Degree member of the Mason’s Maumee Lodge 725 in Fort Wayne, as well as a member of the Scottish Rite of Fort Wayne and a member of the Shriner’s.

He is survived by his wife: Betty, of Kimmell; two children: Marcella (Roy) Thornsberry of Ligonier and Linda Taulbee of Kimmell; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters: Jean (Kyle) Cunningham of Harper Lake, Virginia Sutton of Wolf Lake and Phyllis (Don) Chapman of Wolf Lake; a brother: Ed (Monica) Maloney of Churubusco, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Darrell, and a brother: Bill Maloney.

A funeral service in his honor will be at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday Sept. 16, 2014. Chaplain Kurt Snyder will officiate.  Burial will be in Sparta Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. on Monday Sept. 15, 2014 at the funeral home. A Masonic Memorial Service will be at 7 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or Whitley County Hospice.
