Betty Jean Deahl-MckeeverBetty Jean (Deahl) McKeever, 95, Goshen, Ind., formerly of Syracuse, Ind., passed away at 6:42 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, at IU Health Goshen Hospital.

She was born July 27, 1919, in Goshen, to William Wheeler and Clara (Mease) Kercher.  She married Robert B. Deahl on Dec. 30, 1953, and he died April 20, 1995. She later married Jack McKeever on May 2, 1999 in Syracuse and he died Oct. 2, 2007.

Betty Jean was a 1937 graduate of Goshen High School and attended Shimer College, Mount Carrol, Ill. She was a homemaker, artist and a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Goshen. Her father started the Sunrise Orchard and it remained a source of joy throughout her life. She was an associate of Tri Kappa; member of the Hoosier Art Solone; (Artist) – “Elkhart Art League”, Northern Indiana Artist and St. Joe Watercolor Society. Betty Jean has been playing Bridge with her friends for many years.

She is survived by a son: Ray O. (Terri) Deahl, Syracuse; step-son: Ronald E. McKeever, Gaston, S.C.; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother: Max Kercher; and step-daughter: Patricia Boissonnault.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 15, at the funeral home with Reverend Alan Griffin of the First Presbyterian Church, Goshen, Ind., officiating. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church or IU Health Goshen Hospital for Cardiac Care Unit.
