Keith E. Childers, 65, of rural Akron, Ind., passed away at 1:40 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014, at his residence after being in failing health since last April.

He was born on Oct. 26, 1948, in Fort Wayne, Ind., to John and Mary (Parker) Childers. On Sept. 2, 2005, in Mentone, Ind., to Deneice E. McFadden, she survives.

Keith has served in the Air National Guard for 30 years with his highest rank being Sgt. He also worked for International Harvester of Fort Wayne, Ind.
Memberships: He was a graduate of Wolf Lake High School in 1967. Keith served his country in the US Navy for 4 years. He enjoyed old movies and short trips, especially to Lake Michigan.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter: Sarah Winfred Läng, Kusal, Germany; son: Nicolas (Kendra) Childers, Indianapolis, Ind.; grandson: Jonas Läng; two brothers: David (Dawn) Childers, Wolfboro, New Hampshire; Michael Childers, Fort Wayne.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at King Memorial Home, Mentone, Ind. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at King Memorial Home, 101 North Tucker St., Mentone and will be officiated by Amber Karkosky-Litten. Burial will take place in Mentone Cemetery.
