The Old Jail Museum is seeking to borrow or have donated soap box derby cars for an upcoming exhibit.
The Soap Box Derby was held in Warsaw for two years in 1938 and 1939. After not being run for some years, it started up again in 1952 and was a popular event for county boys, who competed locally with the winner going on to the nationals in Akron, Ohio.
The exhibit will run from May through September. If you have pictures, hats, cars, wheels, or anything related to the Soap Box Derby and would like to loan them to the museum, call 574-269-1078 or email, [email protected]. You may also stop by the museum at 121 N. Indiana St., Warsaw, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
Museum volunteers will also be glad to pick items up. Also, the research library is seeking donations of old city directories and elementary yearbooks.
