Rita Piotrowski, 73, of Syracuse, Ind., passed away on Aug. 30, 2014, in her home.

he was born Nov. 23, 1940, in Hammond, Ind., to Harold and Esther (Pilot) Neumaier. In 1963 she married Jim Piotrowski, who survives.

She retired from teaching in 1995 from Fairview Elementary School in Bloomington, Ind. She moved to Syracuse in 1995.

She is survived by her husband: Jim Piotrowski; her daughter: Leslie Piotrowski, Bloomington, Ind.; two sisters: Edith (Hank) Filkowski, Crown Point, Ind.; and Janice(Dennis) Keefer, Lenexa, Kan.; and her brother: Bob (Judy) Neumaier, Syracuse.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, at Eastlund Funeral Home in Syracuse. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. with Father Edward Erpelding officiating. Her wonderful spirit and joy will be further celebrated immediately following at South Shore Golf Club.
