jack-rudd-obituaryJack R. Rudd, 64, of Rochester, Ind., passed away at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at his residence after being in failing health since last October.

He was born Dec. 12, 1949, in Salyersville, Ky., to Hurndon and Finettie (Craft) Rudd. He married in June 1972 to Monica “Susie” (Barnett) Rudd. She preceded him in death in 1983. He then married Vickie (Voorhees) Rudd, she survives.

He was a heavy equipment operator for Gradex Inc. He went to Akron High School and served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW, and the Eagles Lodge all of Rochester. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, his favorite driver was Ricky Rudd and most recently Dale Jr., and if he was watching TV, it was a western and his favorite actors were John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. He also liked camping and fishing.

Jack is survived by his wife: Vickie Rudd, Rochester; a daughter: Tesha (Russell) Pettit, Middlebury, Ind.; sons: Ryan (Melissa) Rudd, Odessa, Texas; and Jeremy (Kristy) Rudd, Bluffton, Ind.; four step children; 11 grandchildren; 17 step grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; four sisters: Marcella (Keith) Boyd, Rochester; Karen Clark, Rochester; Kathy (Ron) Moore, Rochester; Debbie (Daryl) Powell, Rochester; brothers: David (Linda) Rudd, Rochester; Bernard (Katie) Rudd, Denver, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Hurndon and Finettie Rudd; his wife: Monica “Susie” Rudd; a sister: Daisey; a brother: Bob Rudd; and a brother-in-law: Russell Clark.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, Ind. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, in the funeral home with Rev. Amber Karkosky-Litten. Burial will be in Athens – Hoover Cemetery, Athens, Ind., where military graveside rites will be performed by the Fulton County Honor Guard.
