AKRON – The Tippecanoe Valley softball team lost its season opener to Maconaquah by a 14-2 count Wednesday.

Robyn Dunnuck led the host Vikings with a triple and an RBI.

Tristyn Koon fired a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts and just one walk in notching the pitching win for the Braves.

Malynn Thompson had a homer and four RBI for the winners. Tiffany Rossman went 4-5 with two doubles and a triple for Maconaquah.

Katie Gunter turned in three strong innings in relief for Vally.

Valley (0-1) hosts Triton on April 14. Maconaquah (1-0) plays at Tri-Central April 14.
