1389311_profile_picPolly A. (Miller) Schmucker, 96, of Nappanee, Ind., passed away at 4:55 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Courtyard Health Center in Goshen after a short illness.

She was born on July 24, 1918, in LaGrange County, Ind., to Andrew and Susie (Eash) Miller. She lived her adult life in this area. She married Daniel J. Miller on Aug. 16, 1942. He preceded in death. She married Ruben Schmucker on June 26, 1971. He preceded her in death.

Polly was a homemaker. She also did housecleaning for others and had worked at Amish Acres. She was a member of the Nappanee United Methodist Church where she had been very active with the women’s sewing, Thrift Shop and funeral dinner preparation. She was also involved with Open Door, and would make lap robes and comforters for those in need, including, the Women’s Shelter, Red Bird Mission, and Chicago Homeless.

She is survived by children: Betty Ferrell, Wakarusa, Ind.; Walter (Martha) Miller and Vernon (JoEllen) Miller, both of Nappanee;  Andrew Miller and Homer (Brenda) Miller, both of Bremen, Ind.; daughter-in-law: Patsy Miller, New Paris, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son: Lloyd Miller; daughter-in-law: Carol Miller; sisters: Fannie Miller; infant twin sister; and brothers: Simon, Abe, Levi and Ezra Miller.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at Nappanee United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at the Nappanee United Methodist Church. Reverend Jim Davidson will officiate. Burial will follow at Weldy Cemetery.
