2654819Carol Bruner, 76, of Cromwell, Ind., passed away at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, 2014, at her home.

She was born on Dec. 27, 1937, to Kirby and Lucy (Marchand) Wortinger in Goshen, Ind. On April 18, 1954, she married Herman W. Schieber in LaGrange, Ind. He preceded her in death. On Dec. 6, 2009, she married Melvin Bruner in Cromwell, Ind. He survives.

Mrs. Bruner was an area resident since 1973 and was a member of the Cromwell United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and working with the Martha Circle at the church. She loved to travel and the Smoky Mountains were a favorite destination. Carol was known for her homemade donuts and pies. She was active with the West Noble food and clothes pantry.

She is survived by her husband; six children: Douglas E. (Mary) Schieber, Wawaka, Ind.; Kathleen Boyle, Ligonier, Ind.; Larry ( Judy) Bruner, Wolcottville, Ind.; Susan (David) Neal, Auburn, Ind.; James (Lexa) Bruner, Rockville, Ind.; Nancy (Dan) O’Dell, White Pigeon, Mich.; four grandchildren: Kristina Schieber, Adam Schieber, Katie (Aaron) Allman, Chelsea Boyle; 22 step-grandchildren; and great- grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier. There will be a funeral service held in Mrs. Bruner’s honor at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at the funeral home with Pastor Marilyn Gebert officiating. Burial will be in Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell, Ind.
