If you’re looking for some family fun during spring break, try juggling! The North Webster Community Public Library and North Webster Community Center are co-sponsoring juggling classes from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, April 7.
All ages are welcome as expert juggler LaMar Yoder provides hands-on instruction on the art of juggling. The cost is $15 per person with only $10 for each additional family member. The cost also includes three balls for each person to take home. Sign up for the class and pay the class fee at the North Webster Community Center office to reserve your spot. We need at least 12 persons to hold the class, so don’t delay in registering!
If you feel you’ve got too much juggling in your hectic life, the Introduction to Meditation class at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, may be more to your liking. Registered Nurse Pirkko Miller will introduce the techniques of meditation and its benefits for the mind, body, and spirit. It’s easy and relaxing. The class is free, but advance registration is required. Class size is limited, so sign up early at the library’s front desk, call 574-834-7122, or email [email protected].
The second session of the four-part Beginning Genealogy Class will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, as participants continue learning about how to research their family history. If you haven’t signed up yet, contact Adult Services Director Beth Smith right away at 574-834-7122 ext. 205.
History buffs will enjoy Jeff Blair’s informative presentation Walking the Lincoln Highway at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 12. The historic Lincoln Highway was the nation’s first coast-to-coast highway originating in New York City and terminating in San Francisco, Calif. Blair has traveled the entire length of this historic road, walking a portion of it.
This Tippecanoe Lake resident also plans to walk across the 150-mile Indiana portion of the highway April 25 to May 5 to raise funds and awareness for the Indiana Lincoln Highway Association and the Alzheimer’s Association. The public is invited to learn about the nation’s first transcontinental highway that ran through our area from the man who has walked it. There is no cost to attend and, as with all of our programs, you do not need a North Webster library card to participate.
The library will be closed all day on Thursday, April 10, to allow our staff to attend the Indiana Library Federation District Conference. We apologize for the inconvenience, but attending the conference enables our staff to develop the professional skills to better serve our patrons.
