A person threatening to plant a bomb in the Elkhart County and city courthouses and the prosecutor’s office last Tuesday was taken into custody today by Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department detectives.
At approximately 3 p.m., sheriff’s detectives arrested 25-year-old Kenneth L. Childress at the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department during questioning for false reporting, a Class D felony.
Though the investigation revealed no actual threat to the courthouses or the prosecutor’s office, the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department takes a strong stance in holding those accountable for making false threats that disrupt the community and its resources, said ECSD Capt. James Bradberry.
