Arlene S. Gearhart, 91, of Timbercrest Healthcare of North Manchester, Ind., and formerly of Akron, Ind., passed at 12:20 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, at Parkview Regional Medical Center of Fort Wayne, Ind.

She was born on May 28, 1923, in Nappanee, Ind., to Fred J. and Vera (Stahly) Holloway. On April 7, 1950, in Akron, she was married to Gerald D. Gearhart, who preceded her in death.

Arlene was a homemaker assisting her husband on their dairy farm. She was a graduate of Burket High School. She was a member of the Akron Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed crocheting for family, making potholders for friends, flowers, reading and socializing with everyone at Timbercrest, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter: Sandra Gearhart, Akron; sons: Dennis (Trillia) Gearhart, Akron; Timothy (Diane) Gearhart, Macy, Ind.; sister: Rozella Tinkey, Akron; foster brother: Terry Weed, Reno, Nev.; grandchildren: Amy Wildermuth, Wesley Gearhart, Lisa Hunt, Rebecca Martin, Mark Gearhart, Ashley Craft, Cory Gearhart and Emily Gearhart;
and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents: Fred J. and Vera Holloway; husband: Gerald D. Gearhart; twin sister: Pauline Ryman; sister: Betty Meredith; and brothers: Wade Holloway and Carlyle Holloway.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, Aug. 25, at the funeral home. Reverend Erin Huiras will officiate. Burial will be in Silver Creek Cemetery, Silver Lake, Ind.
