ELKHART – Best known as the tenor in the Grammy-Award-winning Gaither Vocal Band, David Phelps’ trademark is his unique vocal ability and seemingly endless range. He will perform live at the Lerner Theatre, 410 S. Main St., Elkhart, at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 1.

Phelps’ full voice capacity can reach beyond three octaves, and he can sing in a high tessitura for sustained periods of time. In addition to singing, Phelps is a songwriter and vocal arranger who has recorded and contributed to a long list of solo and group projects. Phelps’ most recent album “Classic,” released in 2012, allowed David the unique opportunity to work with close friend and mentor Bill Gaither for the first time on a solo project.
