Betty Jane Pemberton, 87, of Leesburg, Ind., passed away at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 17, 2014, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne, Ind.

She was born April 12, 1927, in Winamac, Ind., to Harvey and Dora (Hall) Yockey. She graduated from Hammond High School in Hammond, Ind., and was married to William Harley Pemberton who preceded her Aug. 20, 1993.

She was a homemaker and previously worked at Rand McNally in northwest Indiana and Amoco Refinery in Whiting, Ind. She had lived previously in the Merrillville, Ind., and Hammond areas before moving to Leesburg on Oct. 20, 2007.

She is survived by two daughters: Ula (Rick) Gallegos, Lowell, Ind.; and Debra Scott, Hessville, Ind.; two sons: William Harley Pemberton III and David N. Pemberton, both of Leesburg; five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and a sister: Rosella Benham, La Plata, Mo. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter: Susan (Anderson) Manns; a granddaughter: Saundra Gallegos; and several brothers and sisters. 

No public services are planned at this time.
