Sandra S. Farris, 77, of Granger, Ind., passed away at 8:08 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, at her daughter’s home in Mishawaka, Ind.
Born on July 18, 1937, in Cromwell, Ind., she was the daughter of Virgil R. and Anna M. (Priest) Kistler. She graduated from Cromwell High School with the Class of 1955. On May 5, 1956, she married Phillip L. Farris at Calvary Evangelical Church, Cromwell.
Following high school, Sandra had worked at Wirk Garment in Ligonier. In 1961 she started working at Bendix in South Bend, retiring in 1993. She had been a member of the American Legion Post 308 in Osceola and DAV Auxiliary in Goshen.
She is survived by a son: Phillip Douglas (Sharon) Farris, South Bend, Ind.; her daughter: Armentha Louise (David) Dean, Mishawaka, Ind.; sisters: Frances E. Becker, South Bend; E. Darlene Alvord, Lakeland, Fla.; a brother: Arthur W. Kistler, Lauderhill, Fla.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers: Gerald L. and D. Lawrence Kistler.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City, Ind. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Thorn Cemetery, Ormas, Ind.
Memorial gifts may be given in Mrs. Farris’s memory to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
