Louis ‘Louie’ R. Bollenbacher, 82, of Nappanee, Ind., passed away Aug. 7, 2014, at his residence.

On May 5, 1932, Louie was born to Jesse and Amelia (Berger) Bollenbacher.Louie graduated from Bremen High school in 1951. He married Rachael Pfeiffer on July 31, 1954; she passed in April of 1988. Louie married Birdena (Lambright) Yoder Pfeiffer in 1989.

Louie was a man of faith and raised his family in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Nappanee where he served many years on the church council and participated in charitable activities. He was employed at Studebaker for a short while and retired from CTS in Elkhart after 35 years of service. Louie enjoyed entertaining at his lake cottage, playing cards and board games, as well as riding his scooter and 4-wheel ATV.

Louie is survived by his wife; three sons: Rick Bollenbacher, Boca Raton, Fla.; Greg (Wendy) Bollenbacher, Bremen, Ind.; Bryan Bollenbacher, Bremen; four grandchildren: Britney, Briley, Sarah and Owen; two sisters: Ruth Rohrer, Goshen, Ind.; Evelyn Leeper, Bremen; one brother: Lester Bollenbacher, Bremen; three step-children: Jim (Susan) Yoder, Wyoming; Carla (John) Wisler, Montana; Mike (Traci) Yoder, Nebraska; eight step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Rachael; and three siblings: Clarence Bollenbacher, Norman Bollenbacher and Bernice Myers.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen, Ind. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with Pastor Roger Rohde officiating. Burial will follow at the Bremen Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Camp Lutherwald.
