9269954The honors are starting to come in for former Warsaw basketball star Nic Moore.

The sophomore guard at Southern Methodist University has been chosen for the American Athletic Conference All-League team. The honor squad was chosen by the league’s coaches.

Moore, who led Warsaw to a Class 4-A state runner-up finish in 2010, is having a sensational season for the Mustangs. The 5-9 guard, who sat out last season after transferring from Illinois State, is averaging a team-high 13.9 points-per-game and also leading his team in assists at 4.7 per game.

Moore, who was the runner-up for Mr. Basketball honors after his senior season at WCHS in 2011, was also honored as a first-team selection to the NABC District 25 team.

Moore, who ranks second in Warsaw boys basketball history in career points scored, has led coach Larry Brown’s SMU squad to a 23-8 mark and a No. 25 national ranking.

SMU plays Houston Thursday at 1 p.m. in an opening round game of the American Athletic Conference Tournament in Memphis.
