Benjamin Eli Bingham Sr., 62, of Elkhart, Ind., passed away July 31, 2014, at Elkhart General Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Jan. 19, 1952, in Mishawaka, Ind., to Norman and Eileen Bingham. He married Martha J. Smith on March 3, 2003; she preceded him in death on Sept. 21, 2006.
Benjamin joined the United States Marine Corp and was honorably discharged. He was a skilled handyman who enjoyed working on cars and keeping busy. He was dedicated to his career of truck driving up until he could no longer drive due to his illness.
He is survived by a son: Benjamin (Matthew) Bingham Jr., Winona Lake, Ind.; two daughters: Leaa (Aaron) Chew, Claypool, Ind.; Erin (Camden) Woolett; and several grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Visitation begins at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, at the First Apostolic Church, 802 E. Mishawaka Ave., Mishawaka, Ind. The memorial service will begin at 4:30 p.m.
