Guy Stayton, 90, formerly of Leiters Ford, Ind.; Rochester, Ind. and Akron, Ind., passed away at 11:55 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at Life Care Center of Rochester, Ind.

He was born June 16, 1924, in Leiters Ford to Fred L. and S. L. (Overmyer) Stayton. His first marriage was to Betty J. Kline in 1947. She died in 1975. His second marriage was to Josephine Felts, who also preceded, and his last marriage was to E. Jeanette Pressel who preceded on June 27, 2012.

Guy was a union and private electrician doing commercial electrical work. He was a graduate of Leiters Ford High School in 1942. He served his country in the Invasion of Normandy as a part of the U.S. Navy, then went to Coin Electrical School in Chicago, Ill.

He attended the Leiters Ford United Methodist Church, the Olive Branch Church of God and the Akron Church of God. Guy was a former Akron Lions Club member and worked for Habitat for Humanity. He collected many different things such as licenses plates, coins and political buttons. He also enjoyed traveling.

He is survived by a daughter: Jan (Harry) Reddick, West Tawakoni, Texas; three stepdaughters: Donita (John) Merley, Akron, Ind.; Sue (Mike) McFarland, Rochester, Ind.; and Judy (Jim) Brazo, Warsaw, Ind.; three stepsons: Richard (Cindy) Pressel, Brazil, Ind.; Rod (Kathy) Pressel, Anderson, Ind.; and Randy (Judy) Pressel, Terra Haute, Ind.; a brother: Ralph (Linda) Stayton, Leiters Ford, Ind.; several stepgrandchildren and great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wives; an infant brother; brother: Paul Stayton; and a sister: Ethel Louis Rothpletz.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at Leiters Ford United Methodist Church, 7375 Church St., Leiters Ford. Following the church service a graveside service will take place at the Leiters Ford Cemetery with graveside military rites being preformed by the Fulton County Honor Guard. Pastors Terry Canfield and Nancy Foster will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Akron Church of God or Gideon’s International or Gentiva Hospice.
