Stanley Dwight Long, 82, of Winona Lake, Ind., passed away at 2:35 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2014, at his residence.
He was a resident of Kosciusko County, Ind., for the past 41 years where he was a member of Winona Lake Free Methodist Church. Stanley was also very involved in the Free Methodist Men’s Ministry International, the Marriage Encounter Ministry, was a song leader and a church lay leader.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Stanley was a business owner and had worked as a salesman for many years for the Harper Brush Company.
He was born Jan. 23, 1932, in Fairfield, Iowa, to Maurice Kingley Long and Portia Mae (Harper) Long. On April 7, 1955, he was married to Donna Elaine (DuBois) Long who preceded him in death on June 11, 2001. Stanley remarried on Oct. 4, 2003, to Gay (Simmermacher) Long, who survives in Winona Lake.
He also leaves behind three sons: Stephen (Pamela) Long, Rockford, Ill.; Mark (Emily Journey) Long, Columbus, Ohio; Michael (Maria) Long, Thessaloniki, Greece; 11 grandchildren: Matthew, Cassandra, Sarah, Adam, Eric, Curtis, Robert, Florence, Gina, Christiana and Kali Long; one brother: Ronald (Louise) Long, Fairfield, Iowa; and his sister-in-law: Beverly Long, Broomfield, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; and his brother: Richard Long.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, July 28, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Rd., Warsaw. His funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, at Winona Lake Free Methodist Church, 902 College Ave., Winona Lake, and officiated by Pastor Roland Kramer and assisted by Pastor Henry Church.
A graveside service will take place at 2 p.m. (CST) Thursday, July 31, at Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, Iowa.
