20140723093754401_0001 (323x450)Thomas S. Ludwig, 82, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014, in his residence.

He was born July 17, 1932, in Milwaukee, Wisc., to Robert and Evelyn (Anderson) Ludwig. He was a Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. He married Barbara Gehling on Nov. 29, 1952, in West Allis, Wisc.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 4th Degree Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion Post # 49, all of Warsaw. He retired from Navistar International, Fort Wayne, Ind., in 1994.

Thomas is survived by his wife: Barbara Ludwig, Warsaw; three sons: Michael (Nancy) Ludwig, Indianapolis, Ind.; John (Teresa) Ludwig, Warsaw; and Robert (Kristin) Ludwig, St. John, Ind.; a daughter: Laura (Matthew) Gillis, Warsaw; a sister: Barbara Lee, New Berlin, Wisc.; grandchildren: Luke Gillis, Sam (Eileen) Gillis, Jackson, Anna, Jordyn, Aaron, Emily and Madeline Ludwig.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Robert Ludwig.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 25, at Sacred Heart Catholic, Warsaw. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the church. Father Phil DeVolder will officiate the Mass. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with Military Honors by the American Legion Post # 49, VFW Post # 1126 both of Warsaw and the Military Funeral Honor Guard.
