Katherine Florence (Bope) McCormick, 78, Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 8:45 p.m., Tuesday, July 15, 2014, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.

She was born on June 16, 1936, to Donald and Ethel (Kibble) Bope in Columbus, Ohio. She had been a resident of Indiana the past 48 years. Katherine married Donegal McCormick on June 1, 1955, at Jacksonville, N.C.

Katherine was a very well educated person. She was a 1954 graduate of Grandview High School, Grandview, Ohio. She furthered her education at Ohio State University, and graduated from Fort Wayne Bible College in 1981 with a bachelor of science in music education. She earned a master degree from Indiana University in 1985 licensed to teach K-12. She was a very faithful member of Warsaw Missionary Church. She even taught piano lessons at home to her grandchildren. She also taught at Lighthouse Christian Academy, Warsaw. In her spare time she was a Mary Kay Consultant, she loved quilting, sewing, gardening, canning and most of all being a grandma.

She is survived by her husband; seven children: Dennis (Brenda) McCormick, Bourbon, Ind; Erin (Dan) Burkey, Granger, Ind.; Shannon (Allen) Kahler, Burbank, Ohio; Terry (Karen) McCormick, Bristol, Ind.; Tara Eileen (Rodney) Bays, Mentone, Ind.; Donovan (Melissa) McCormick, Elkhart, Ind.; Heather McCormick, Warsaw; 27 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and her sister: Janice Bope (George) Trout, Wilmington, Ohio.

Proceeding in death were her parents; twin sons: Barry and Karry; grandson: Corey; and her sister: Carolyn (Bope) Johnson.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 20, at Warsaw Missionary Church, 1849 E. Springhill Rd., Warsaw. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 21, in the church with Rev. Kenneth Chupp, Warsaw Missionary Church officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with expenses or to Warsaw Missionary Church in her memory.
