2590094Evan Oliver Manges, 77, of Bremen, Ind., passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2014, at home.

He was born Feb, 17, 1937, to Dillman and Minna (Schutz) Manges. In 1955, Evan graduated from Bremen High School where he was voted “most athletic.” After graduating, he married Sharon Swank and together they had four children. In 1966, he married Charlene Nine and together they had a son. On Aug. 8, 1977, he married Carolyn Nelson.

He worked at Corl Corp in research and design for many years. Evan enjoyed playing horseshoes, fishing, woodworking and spending time with his beloved dogs. He also enjoyed caring for the koi pond that he built in his backyard.

Evan is survived by three daughters: Penny (Coly) Eddinger of Nappanee, Ind.; Susan (Steve) Florez, Twain Harte, California, and Amy (Steve) Trevino of Susanville, Calif.; three sons: Curt (Mary Ann) Manges of Ione, Calif., Jan David Manges, Waterford, Calif.; Cris Manges, Indianapolis, Ind.; three stepsons: Joseph (Lisa) Gibson, Plymouth, Ind.; Ken (Jodi) Gibson of Woodstock, Ill.; and Laurence ‘Larry’ (Jenny) Gibson, Mahomet, Ill.; his friend and companion: Sue Fritter, Plymouth, Ind.; 24 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren; two brothers: Wayne Manges and Burt Manges; and a sister: Leona Holderread.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Carolyn; a step daughter: Terry Mitro; two sisters: Carole Koontz and Lorraine Leazenby; and two brothers: Dean Manges and Don Manges.

Visitation will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 5, at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 6, at Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen, Ind. Burial will follow in the Bremen Cemetery.
