The Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation has announced plans for making up the remaining four instructional days lost this year due to inclement weather:

Students will attend school on Friday, March 21, and Friday, May 30.

Two additional days will be made up by adding 1 hour of instructional time to the end of the normal school day starting Monday, March 3, through Tuesday, March 18. For every 6 hours of extended instructional time the Indiana Department of Education allows schools to make up a missed instructional day. If school is cancelled for any reason during this 12 day period, at total of 1 hour of instructional time will be added to the next school day following the 12 day period.

This plan for making up the remaining 4 instructional days allows students to receive additional instruction prior to high stakes testing (ISTEP+, IREAD3, and End-of-Course Assessments in Algebra 1 and English 10) used by the Indiana Department of Education as measures of individual student and school accountability.

Of the 9 school days missed by students, only 7 days will have to made up due to a waiver provided by the IDOE. The first two make up dates utilized the two built in make up days in the school corporation’s master calendar. The third make up date was fulfilled on President’s Day, Monday, Feb. 17.

The school corporation will make up the remaining dates as follows: Parent-Teacher Conference Day, Friday, March 21, school will be in session; Friday, May 30, school will be in session; March 3-7 and March 10 will be 1 hour extended days; and March 11-14, 17 and 18 will be one hour extended days.

Any additional cancellation dates will be made up the week of June 2-6. Any questions regarding the TVS make up day schedule may be directed to the building principal at the school your child attends.
