Jeanette ‘Jean’ R. Wells, 85, of Bourbon, Ind., passed away at 10:15 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2014, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, Ind.

She was born on Oct. 12, 1928, to Harold and Thelma (Lutts) Jeffries in Chicago, Ill. She came to the Bourbon and Etna Green area in 1966. After she graduated high school she continued her education in Business at college in New York. On June 24, 1950, at Bryan, Ohio, Jean married Harry E. Wells. He preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker and retired from Orthopedic Equipment Company in 1984. She and her husband were very faithful members of the Bourbon Bible Church where she taught Sunday school and was past president of the Women’s Missionary Group. Jean was the organist and pianist for the church for many years and even taught beginning piano. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, gardening and her family.

Jean is survived by her four children: David L. (Linda) Wells, Papakeechie Lake, Ind.; Deb (Jerry) Fink, Tippecanoe, Ind.; Stephanie Wells, Bourbon, Ind.; Jon (Teresa) Wells, Nappanee, Ind; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her sister: Beverly Kennedy, Sebring, Fla.; and her brother: Robert Jeffries, Star Lake, N.Y.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 5, in the Bourbon Bible Church, 12th Road, Bourbon. A funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the church with Pastor Larry Goss of the Bourbon Bible Church officiating. Burial will be next to her husband in Parks Cemetery, Bourbon.

The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Bourbon Bible Church Mission Fund in her memory.
